Cayman is small. That cuts both ways.
Your addressable market is a few tens of thousands of people and a few thousand businesses. You cannot outspend anyone into a bigger market. But you also do not need to: you have almost certainly already served a meaningful share of the people who will ever buy from you.
Which means the highest-return marketing asset you own is a list you are not emailing.
Where the list already lives
You do not need to build an audience from zero. Go and look at:
- Your invoicing software, which has every customer email you have ever billed
- Your phone contacts, sorted by anyone you quoted and lost
- Your inbox, where every enquiry that went nowhere is sitting
That is usually several hundred people who already know your name. Cold outreach cannot compete with that.
What to send
Not a newsletter. Nobody wants a newsletter from a plumber.
Send sequences that fire on behaviour:
- Somebody enquires and does not book: three emails answering the objection they did not say out loud
- Somebody books: reminders that lift your show rate, which is the cheapest revenue lift in the business
- Somebody buys: a check-in at the interval that matches your service, then a genuine reason to come back
- Somebody has gone quiet for a year: one honest win-back that does not pretend you have been in touch
Each of these is a handful of emails written once and run forever.
The Cayman-specific parts
Seasonality is real here. Hurricane season, high season, and the stretch where half the island is travelling all move demand. Your email calendar should follow that shape rather than a US retail calendar.
Word of mouth is also more concentrated than anywhere else you have worked. A reactivated customer is not just one job. They are the person who names you at a dinner in South Sound.
Small market, long memory. Both of those reward consistency more than cleverness.
What good looks like
You should be able to answer these three questions at any moment: who came in this month, who is warm right now, and who has gone cold and needs a call.
If your email tool cannot tell you that, it is a sending tool, not a marketing system. That gap is exactly what lead scoring closes: every open, click and page view adds up to a number, and the number tells you who to ring today.
